CONTEXT
Founded in 1151, Esrum Abbey was once one of Denmark’s largest and most important monasteries. Today, only one original building remains. Esrum Kloster & Møllegård wanted visitors to experience how the monastery developed, flourished and eventually disappeared.
SOLUTION
Khora created an on-site AR experience where visitors can reconstruct the lost monastery buildings, explore their history and gradually dismantle them again to return to the present day. The journey is guided by the spirit of Esrum Abbey, narrated by Lars Mikkelsen.
IMPACT
The experience adds a digital layer to the historic site, allowing visitors to see and interact with buildings that no longer exist while following the monastery’s transformation through time.
