Khora recreated the 1806 Ringsted fire in VR, combining historically accurate 3D environments with eyewitness accounts.
CONTEXT
St. Bendt’s Church in Ringsted is Scandinavia’s oldest brick church and one of Denmark’s most important royal churches. In 1806, it was damaged by a devastating fire that destroyed much of the surrounding town.
SOLUTION
Khora created a historical VR dramatization that places visitors inside the Ringsted fire of 1806. The church and its surroundings were reconstructed in 3D using historical records, while the narration draws directly from eyewitness accounts of the fire.
IMPACT
The experience brings a dramatic moment in Danish history to life from a first-person perspective, allowing visitors to experience both the destruction of the fire and its impact on the people of Ringsted.
